Acer Aspire dead - won't startup
Absolutely no response from the power button. It froze during a chipset driver update, and eventually turned off when the battery ran out...it wouldn't cold shut down via the power button as it froze when the system did.
Now, it won't start at all. I've tried the trick about holding down the power button for 20 secs with no battery installed and nothing's working at all. Any tips? I wanna try resetting the CMOS maybe, but dunno if that'd void the warranty. Also, if I do try and get it warrantied, are Acer likely to **** around for weeks and weeks before I get it back? |

Re: Acer Aspire dead - won't startup
Hi,
if it is under warranty... it is best if you return it to them and have it fixed.

Re: Acer Aspire dead - won't startup
That's my last resort, but it's kinda vital I get it up and working ASAP what with coursework over easter so I'd rather try and fix it over the next day or two whilst waiting for the office hours of mon-fri 9-5 in which I can actually call and sort out an RMA.

Re: Acer Aspire dead - won't startup
First thing before you send it to Acer let me say to you: They have terrible customer service, that's why i am trying not to buy Acer laptop.
You should try opening your laptop and see if the power button maybe for some reason got damaged ( bad contact with motherboard or some misplacing damage )... If it's that the trick, then just try to replace your power button or to put it back on place.

Re: Acer Aspire dead - won't startup
just friendly reminder - opening up the laptop voids warranty. so if you want to do it, my only advise is to download the service manual from ACER. that would get you started.

Re: Acer Aspire dead - won't startup
return it via warranty or pay to get it fixed if you are short of time.
