Laptop freezes on Dell BIOS screen.

Unless I unplug my usb devices if I don't, it freezes on BIOS screen. But when they are unplugged it boots up fine, I need the devices hooked up so why is it doing this? I thought it could be a program I installed but it is not.

Re: Laptop freezes on Dell BIOS screen.

Hi,

just to clarify... usb plugged in, boot hangs? or does it go directly to BIOS? or goes directly to BIOS then hangs?

what if you boot first then plug them in, does it freeze Vista?

Re: Laptop freezes on Dell BIOS screen.

It is a Dell XPS M1530, I turn it on it goes to the BIOS screen and just hangs there forever, but if i unplug the two devices in plugged into the USB ports (Logitech Mini Receiver for my mouse and keyboard & my external hard drive) it boots up just fine, it refuses to boot if there is anything plugged into the three usb ports.

Re: Laptop freezes on Dell BIOS screen.

have you checked the BIOS settings for any USB related configuration (enable/disable)? and yes, you may want to check Dell website for a BIOS update.
