Dell C510/C610 battery issues...

Hi! My laptop which the model shows as a Dell Latitude c510/C610. I have a battery that is only a year old. But, my laptop won't turn on if it's not plugged in. When I look up Control Panel-Performance Maintenance-Power Options-Power Meter, it shows my battery and that it is at 100%. I tried uninstalling and re-installing the driver for the battery. I just don't know what else to do. I am SO stressed I have been working to look into fixes for days. So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ahead of time!!

Re: Dell C510/C610 battery issues...

It is just the battery most likely, just need to get a new one. Check with dell first if you still have any warrenty on it. Also I would look into any recalls with all that have been going around but I do not think there is any for yours. (jus going by a quick google search) I would sugest just running it without the battery, just incase the battery is faulty and to be safe.

You may want to keep looking also for an option that will drain the battery and the recharge it, this will just make sure the battery is really bad. Sorry I can't give bettery information how to get to that, I only got there once on an IBM laptop, and I cant even find it on my Toshiba Vista laptop.

I wouldn' feel bad about haveing the battery die, my mom's dell laptop is a little over a year or so old now and it is telling her that she needs a new battery.

Hi clovesr,

to know if your battery is failing is to try it in a similar laptop. if it works there you can be sure there is something wrong with your system like faulty system board. or you can get another battery that is known to work and use it in your laptop. if it works, then you know that your original battery is dead even though power meter in Windows is saying differently.
