Re: Mitac/time8375 Laptop !!help!!!!!!!
I don't know if this is the problem, but I had my keyboard stop working at one point... I was told to unplug it and remove the battery.... then hold the power button down for about 20 seconds. After this it functioned fine. You prolly hae a different problem, but I thought this would at least be worth a shot.

Re: Mitac/time8375 Laptop !!help!!!!!!!
Hi,
just to clarify... after seeing the BIOS version, press F2 etc. screen, nothing happens? You mean you are stuck on that screen as if waiting for you to press a key (does not change to another screen like Windows XP is starting)? i am not familiar with your laptop but i think this is normal that during boot up, it gives you a screen where you have the choice to enter BIOS setting configuration. In my laptop it is F1. Now if I see that screen and I do not press F1 key, it continues to boot to Windows. Going back to your problem... have you tried an external keyboard?

hi everyone ,thanks for replying so quickly.
I've tried an external keyboard and it didnt work,I've tried every f key and key combination when powering on, it still stays stuck on the same screen. I have even taken out the hd and cdrom and tried booting from floppy, tried taking out ram and adding back one by one..still same thing happens!!!! also on power up there are no beeps at all..... does anyone know how to get the keboard out on this thing,my other laptop has 2 clips and it just pops up, but this one seems to be like Fort Knox!!!! I really appreciate all your help so far peeps!!!! keep the ideas coming!!! |

Re: Mitac/time8375 Laptop !!help!!!!!!!
hmmm... looks like a keyboard problem but you said you tried external keyboard but no avail (could mean a dead motherboard).
at this point, you may consider two things. 1) replace keyboard with a working one and/or 2) replace motherboard.

Re: Mitac/time8375 Laptop !!help!!!!!!!
It looks like motherboard problem to me... I had similiar problem with my Toshiba laptop and like you did I tried everything till i found out that it was motherboard (some chip damaged or something) So you might check that out, see if it helps. Good luck!
