Acer Travelmate 4150 shuts down after an hour
Good Day,
The notebook in question is an Acer Travelmate 4150. After running fine for an hour or so, it will suddenly shut down. It just turns off, there's no error message, no blue screen of death. The operating system is Windows XP. It has 256 megabytes of memory, a 60 gigabyte hard drive, and the processor runs at 1.6 megahertz. Could it be overheating? Thank you and happy spring

Re: Acer Travelmate 4150 shuts down after an hour
yup kcwf25496 is correct that it could be overheating. but temperature can be monitored by programs/applications available from the web like NHC. you can also feel if the air from the fan is very warm (unusually warm).
i suggest you try installing SpeedFan or NHC and monitor your temps. i keep mine below 50, if your temps reach 50 or over (no hard and fast rules here), consider cleaning up the heatsink, check the fan and check for obstructions. Check if thermal paste is not dried out and crumbling; reapply as needed.
