Laptop system processes stutter, CPU suspected
But honestly, I have no idea.
In a nutshell: my computer is stuttering. What happened: I got home from work, listened to a couple songs on myspace (I hated myspace before, now, well), and I noticed that the sound was stuttering. I rebooted the computer, and it took more than five minutes to load my windows login screen. All my processes were stuttery, taking several times as long to work. Next: I performed the queued windows update. No better. Next: I ran adaware, and NOD32 in depth analysis. This took about 5 -6 hours altogether. I let NOD32 run overnight, it turned up nothing. I've run online diagnostics (PC Pitstop and a trojan scanner) with no luck. I ran defrag as well. Still no change. I've uninstalled most of the programs I dont use anymore, several of which I was surprised I still had. And this laptop is just a year old. OS: WinXP Home on my HP laptop. Looks like 32 bit. AMD Turion 64 mobile CPU Recent Hardware Changes: Yes, I added myspace IM and my wireless router software a couple weeks ago (Network Magic). I have removed network magic after the stuttering began, as its trial license has run out. The only other programs changes in the last couple months have been application updates, especially for my virus software. Problem is consistent, performance stutters at every opportunity, the internet does not make matters worse (hell, if its not doing anything else at all, it will run music almost smoothly, almost). Music and videos stutter, pages take longer than usual to download, but not longer than the stuttering experienced in offline applications. There have been no error messages, and as mentioned all diagnostics (that I have thought to run) are coming up clear. |

Re: Laptop system processes stutter, CPU suspected
If the previous reply does not help, first thing comes to mind is a resource problem. Please give a little more info about your system. Ram, harddrive size/free space. When was the last time you did a disk cleanup - getting rid of all temporary files? Also maybe a defrag is needed.
