Gateway 7320GZ Overheating

I have a Gateway 7320GZ laptop that is frequently going into thermal shutdown and driving us nuts. I replaced the keyboard a few years ago but I do not remember how to disassemble it so I can blow out any dust/dog hair (yes, we have a golden retriever). Anyone know the trick to opening one of these?

Re: Gateway 7320GZ Overheating

try taking the silver plastic off were the power button is. then there are screws to lift the top of the keyboard. I have cleand mine out and still have the issue. not sure what is going on I am going to check with gateway and see if they can give me any ideas, normally all the say is send it in. Think I will by a Dell next time.

Re: Gateway 7320GZ Overheating

if you do open it up I would clean it by hand , blowing air into a fan motor actually just pushes dirt into the motor. I have killed a few videocard fans this way, also look under and in back of your laptop to find out where air goes in and comes out for cooling. clean the vents and keep them clear of debris on desktop.
