lost comm ports

I have a Sony VGN 8900 laptop. I did a freash install of XP Pro and now I have no comm ports. No com ports show up in device manger. Any ideas?

Hi Pipes,

Have you installed all of the hardware drivers? Double check and sony drivers website and see if you have installed of the drivers.

I have downloaded all the drivers I could find on Sony's site. When I installed the modem driver it came up on com3, but after all the installing I still have no display of com ports on the device manager or on the control panel. I have two devices that require a com port thru a usb port to operate and they both say there are no detectable ports.
