[SOLVED] Non-responsive touchpad
Hi guys. The touchpad and clickers on my wifes acer aspire became non-responsive after she had plugged in a projector for a presentation she did. I've done clean installs (returning the system to factory condition), driver uninstalls, reinstalls, and updates, and I have been unable to get it to start working. The system says it is working properly, but I beg to differ.
(= Any suggestions about what the problem might be and how to go about fixing it? How difficult would it be for me to tear into it myself. Thanks again, Erik |

Re: Non-responsive touchpad
you should be able to ajust the sensitivity from the control panel
or by pressing certain keys to bring it up use the tab key to move around

Re: Non-responsive touchpad
OK, so hopefully you have by now fixed this or will read this post. I see your post is over a month old but I have a solution. I had the same issue and you are going to feel very silly. I am sorry to hear you clean installed your OS that wasn't neccesary. Your touchpad is working properly as device manager told you. It is just disabled. The hardware itself is disabled and can be re enable by holding the blue Fn(function) key and hitting F7. A message at the bottom of your screen in green letters should say touchpaD ENABLED. I felt very silly after I found this out.

Re: Non-responsive touchpad
Thank you so much! Now I am the one who feels totally stupid because it worked like a charm! I can't believe it was a simple matter of hitting two keys!
Thanks again, I can't thank you enough. |

Re: [SOLVED] Non-responsive touchpad
LOL, when I had the issue I was very frustrated and knew something was odd. It was wierd because the touchpad didn't work in linux or vista but both device managers said it was fine sooooooo it was hooked up it had to be on the hardware level and it is a hardware switch that was to blame silly function keys
