[SOLVED] Vista BSOD =( running any type of graphic software

Hello Fellow Techies, I been getting a Blue screen of death error every time i try to do something that involves graphics, trying to open windows media player, trying to open a picture, or even trying to change my screen saver from the default one to another! I know Vista is a POS and i would of rather stayed with XP. but my choices where not an option.... anyway since i dont have some of the drivers to my hardware i still dont have sound and i couldn't find a driver for my graphics card that was made for vista even thought its a pretty new GeForce Go 7900 GTX (which might be the problem). anyway here are the specs of my computer.

Targus

That`s a graphics driver error right enough. I have problems myself with my GeForce Go Card. Still can`t get a driver that does everything properly, but I`m not getting any BSODs now.

Download the driver at this site
Driver
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...howtopic=17144

These drivers use a modded inf which you can also download on the same page, at the top

How to use the modded inf file
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/...howtopic=11997

In a nutshell

Make a System Restore Point first

1. Click on the driver version to download the drivers.

2. Once finished, double-click the .exe file and extract all drivers (default location is your desktop). A folder will appear with the name of the version of the driver. The installation process will not start yet (you don't want it to anyway).

3. Still on the LaptopVideo2Go website, right click the .INF and hit "Save Link As...". Put it somewhere.

4. Now, take that .INF file, and drag it into the extracted drivers folder. Overwrite when prompted.

5. Uninstall the old display drivers via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. Or from Device Manager

6. Restart.

7. Now you will be able to install the drivers (you needed to replace the .INF file to do that).

8. Open the extracted drivers folder.

9. Double-click Setup.exe, follow the instructions.

If the driver turns out to be no good, just do a System Restore

Thank you! I did figure out another way to fix it last night I guess Alienware made modified drivers for this video card so I just went to that site and downloaded that thank you for your help!
