Hi David,
Go into your device manager and list everything that is there under Sound, video, and game controllers.

Re: Laptop No Sound After Virus Scan HELP!
Go to Start > (All) Programs > Entertainment > Volume Control. Make sure nothing is lowered or muted there.

Re: Laptop No Sound After Virus Scan HELP!
If you reinstalled Windows then you really can't get the driver back. Did you try different versions of the driver from Toshiba's web site?

Try downloading the Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file) driver here:

Re: Laptop No Sound After Virus Scan HELP!
This is just a thought, that maybe we are looking at everything too complicated? Most (possibly all?) Toshiba laptops have a little scroll wheel somewhere on side or front of the computer. This is an analoge sound controller (i.e. you can change the sound volume when the computer is off by turning the wheel all the way down). Have you checked to make sure this isn't turned all the way down?
I know that was the issue with my sisters Toshiba when her sound stopped working (and gave me a real headache since my first thought was drivers/etc too!). |
