Not to sure how to do this

I have a laptop a compaq presario 2100 and the cdrom does not work on it. I need to format this and reinstall windows xp. Whenever I turn it on it does the windows loading screen with the bar moving across the screen then it goes black like it is going to start then it blue screens but I can't read what it says cause it stays on for like 2 secs. Then it just reboots. So if anyone knows how I can reinstall windows or get this version to work I would appericate it. I was thinking somehow reinstalling over a network but not for sure how to do it. So if someone can help thinks a lot!!!.

Re: Not to sure how to do this

Hi jtizzle07!!

Does your computer have a floppy disc? If so, refer to this page:

Installing XP over network

And refer to the bottom of the page for info on creating the Network Boot Disk.

Also, remember by doing the network install, you won't be unable to delete the C: partition, because the setup itself would run from the C: partition. As a alternative, you can try to use external CD/DVD drive via USB panel

Re: Not to sure how to do this

Thanks. What im going to try to do is copy xp install on falsh drvie and install that way. And if that doesn't work im going to try to install xp on flash drive and see if I can fix the laptop my doing that. I was reading around and I think the Kernel32.dll is missing. I installed AVG on it and I think it deleted it for some reason. But i'll keep you posted.
