monitor problem Dell e1505 laptop

I am running Fedora 7 on a two year old Dell e1505. I had some rain come thought a screened window before i could get the laptop off and removed. I dried it out and rebooted. Now when I turn the machine on the screen remains white for up to ten or fifteen minutes then begins to flicker for another five or so then everything is totally normal for use. I can hear the beep for inserting the user name and password at the right time for boot up in the process so i know the OS is working without the monitor being available. I have replaced the on off switch board and now thinking it might be the inverter. Would appreciate advice on this from someone knowledgeable about monitors. Thanks, sonnyboy7

if you have one available try an external monitor to see if it works.
