Toshiba A75 lost ethernet and wireless

Hi everyone, did a search for this and haven't found anything yet. I'm doing support on an A75 running XP SP2 that has lost both wireless access and wired ethernet. Other computers are able to use the LAN and wireless connection without a problem. User reported that no new programs have been installed recently. Everything worked one evening, and then didn't work the next morning. I've checked drivers and pulled the wireless card, but nothing changed. No error messages appear in relation to any of this. I know there is a long history of having problems with wireless networking on these machines, but I haven't found anything in relation to the regular LAN also dying.

The user did tell me that the unit has had an overheating issue over the last few months, I'm afraid it may have killed both. Any ideas or advice?

Thanks!

Re: Toshiba A75 lost ethernet and wireless

Have you replaced wireless card and lan card or combo (wifi/lan/modem in one) with a new card?

If you have another working A75 laptop, why not try the card/s there. That way you will know if they are toast or not.

Re: Toshiba A75 lost ethernet and wireless

I don't have another A75 around to pull parts from, but I can get them mailed to me from an associate who does have them (at no cost other than shipping - Yah!). So, once they show up, we'll see what happens then.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Re: Toshiba A75 lost ethernet and wireless

If the cards work on the 'newly shipped' A75, then we can both say that somehow the other A75 has some issues (i.e. driver issues, connection issues or a toasted mobo).
