Okay so i have a windows xp sony vaio laptop computer and its a preety good computer...except for watching movies or playing full screen games. When you try to play a longer than ten minuter movie on the computer it starts off great then it either gets slower and slower (where you hear the dialogue and it dosnt match up with the lips of the speaker) or it freezes every 30 sec. When playign full screen games it usually starts doing the frezzing thing after 10 min and you have to wait until it unfreezes to try again. Now my question is if there is any way to watch movies and play games without the freezing/slowing down part happening?
p.s. installing the codec packs dosnt do anything at all.:

Re: ....it froze....it froze.....
I'm not much of a hardware guy, but it may be that the video card isn't exactly the greatest. Or even that the processor is overheating and not working properly, does the laptop get hot when this is happening? I know my old HP used to do that and it ended up being that one of the fans wasn't working properly. Replaced the fan and all was well. Not sure if it will help out your situation, but I figured I could shed at least a little insight. And I know vaio's are generally pretty good computers, so I doubt the vid card just can't handle full screen stuff. If it is integrated though you may need to boost up how much memory it is taking from the RAM by going into the BIOS and bringing that up a little.

Re: ....it froze....it froze.....
yeah my computer did overheat, the touchpad would get really hot after the games and the movies, so i thought to solve the problem myself and i ended up buying one of those coolers (connects to usb abd has two fans to help cool computer). The cooler works great, because the toughpad dosnt get hot anymore and the computer in general runs faster. But the games and videos still freeze after a while.

Re: ....it froze....it froze.....
could do with alot more ram, especially for games, the fact you have so little ram, would explain the slow downs
Your going to have to get atleast 1gig in there for XP too run games, IMO |
