Laptop Display Problems - Dell latitude 600m

I've got a Dell 600m whose LCD screen I thought was bad (because it looked just like the attached photos). I replaced the screen with another one of the same model and it still looks like the attached photos. I'm guessing it's probably not the screen. I was wondering if anyone had seen this problem before and is there a fix for it? I don't have sufficient knowldege to troubleshoot it. Any and all help/suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Laptop Display Problems - Dell latitude 600m

It looks like your video memory is bad or the onboard ati 9000 graphics chip is gone i do not believe this is repairable unless you get a new mainboard,i am sure this has built in graphics chip on the mainboard. You could have a look on ebay for a mainboard if you really want to spend the time to repair it,hope this helps.

Loudnproud makes a lot of sense but if possible plug into external monitor not really advice that makes much sense but because it would be free to do why not. Also boot in safe mode just desperate answers as like I said loudnproud sounds like he is on to something.

Re: Laptop Display Problems - Dell latitude 600m

I tried plugging into an external monitor and the display looked the same, so it appears that loudnproud59 is right on in his assessment. Thanks for the suggestion though.
