Cry NEC DVD ND6650A - Error code 39

I got a virus a few weeks back but couldn't remove it via Freeware etc so ran the CD Recovery disc and a CD Disk Utilities and Drivers for my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M3438G Win XP Home laptop and it cleared the virus ok BUT it doesn't now show my DVD drive in My Computer BUT does show it in the Device Manager list BUT with a black ! in a yellow icon which I assumed meant I'm missing the driver. I've tried to run the Update Driver (and get "Could not find a better match")/Scan for hardware changes (and Plug and Play does nothing) from that entry with no change.
I then downloaded from NEC the NECND66_V103C.exe Firmware but get "Target NEC ND 6650A is not found correctly".
I found a similar resolved thread which used REGEDIT to edit out some entries - I looked to do the same but couldn't find the exact entries quoted to delete - so I'm stuck - other than buy an external DVD which would be a shame.
Can anyone help please? (Thank you Techpro5238 for responding to my earlier thread in Driver Support - I've raised this new one here as you suggested)
Cheers - Colin

Re: NEC DVD ND6650A - Error code 39

I am having the same problem. I have tried all of the steps using regedit and uninstalling the primary IDE and the CD/DVD drive itself (through Hardware Manager) and nothing has yet to solve this issue.

Any help out there, please?

Re: NEC DVD ND6650A - Error code 39

I'm having the same identical problem with my drive. When I load a disk the drive runs for awhile but the computer keeps asking to load disk. I'm thinking that a new drive would not fix this issue, but then I could be wrong. It sure would be great if some one would reply to help resolve this issue.

Re: NEC DVD ND6650A - Error code 39

It would be nice to have a solution...This drive came highly reccommended but, so far, it has yet to live up to its reviews. It will not work at all with DVDFab or any other DVD back-up software. It will copy CDs well, but DVDs (of all makes and types) will not work.

Thank you!

Re: NEC DVD ND6650A - Error code 39

Hey guys, I am having the exact same problem, not registering discs at all. It says its a problem with the driver so have tried downloading a new driver, in fact have tried all the fixes listed here. *sigh* It has worked fine for 18 months and it's now decided to throw a hissy fit at me! If anyone has any more ideas?

Thanks,
kasca
