Hey guys,
I have a Compaq Presario M2000 which supports DDR333 (PC2700) SDRAM and it has two slots... Right now i have one 256MB stick of RAM in one slot...Will i be able to buy another 512MB of the same type of RAM and stick it in the other slot??? OR Will i have to upgrade them in pairs?? Thanks Jake |

Re: RAM Question!!
Yes. I have just this very minute added a 512 stick in place of a 256(768). As yet I cannot see much difference. Mind you I won't say the same for 256 upto 512. If you have 256 it crawls, add another 256 and it's MUCH better.

Re: RAM Question!!
Hey,
Thanks for that quick reply...So according to what you say, its better to upgrade the RAM in matching pairs like 256 and 256 or 512 and 512 right?? Ill take your word for it if this is right... Thanks |

Re: RAM Question!!
Hi, I think we are crossing wires. When I bought my Compaq presario it had 256 ram. I added another 256(this was 4 yrs ago and ram was VERY expensive)and noticed a big lift in speed. A couple of days ago I bought 512 ram on Ebay for $16.00 (8 English pounds)I added it this morning and initally didn't see a big lift. I run Zeta as my main operating system and it was only after I booted up Xp that I noticed a big lift. I would imagine if you have a full P4 processor( Mine is a Celeron)and you replaced your 2x256 for 2 x 512 you would see a big lift.
