Compaq presario laptop with windows xp pro but I lost the product license key. what should i do please i need support

Most often with brand name computers such as Dells, HPs, and such they have a product key sticker somewhere on the computer. Have you checked for this sticker under the laptop?

Download a freebie called Belarc Advisor. Run it and it will show your Mciroft License/Install codes.

I have used a product - XPSyapad - on numerous occasions to obtain the Windows &/or Office product codes prior to reinstallation of same or for authentication purposes. Here is the download site:

http://www.xtort.net/xtort-software/xpsyspad/


After download and install, select "Admin" from the top left. Then from the dropdown menu select "Retrieve Windows Product Keys". That should be it.

first of all, grumpy old man, its too late for me to download belarc advisor because i have already formatted my laptop. whenever i on my laptop, it starts in the setup so i cant load windows anymore until i get a product key!

n10sity- yeah there is a sticker in the back of my hp laptop but something happen long ago. when i bought my laptop, it came with a windows xp home and accessories cd [for all the important stuffs]. one day i was crazy to the point that i broke both of those cds in half, the problem: headache. see im the type of person that whenever i feel theres something wrong with my laptop no matter how little, i always end up formatted and i got tired of it..so after i contacted my friend to help me. he gave me windows xp but its not home, its the pro version..he also gave me the drivers cd for my hp laptop and of course the product license key..

jack sparrow- how much is it?

now here i am just formatted but lost the product key. any other way to get a product license key? i already have the drivers cd so yeah just that 1!

jcgriff2- does XPSyapad work on a laptop that doesnt load windows anymore? i already formatted and it doesnt load until i get a license key.

Unfortunately, no. The minimum system requirements for XPSyspad are Windows 2k or XP. Many of the 200+ features of this product obtain data from the system's registry. To my knowledge, once the hard drive is reformatted there is nothing within reason that can be done to recover data.
