Please help.
My HP has a touch panel on top , next to the power button. My son recently dropped my laptop and now there is no light for the power button and the sound is not working. All the LCD lights are working and I am able to bypass not being able to use the POWER button by pressing the media button which then gives me an option to access the internet. Now I am wanting to open it up and see if maybe something was nugged/jolted/or misplaced when it fell. But I cannot find any assembly / disassembly instructions. Ive only had it a year. I am a working single parent in school therefore I cannot really afford the cost of paying someone $200 or more dollars to look at this. Can anyone offer any insight? If so I do appreciate it. Again I can use it , but the sound doesnt work on the speakers and I cannot get the power button to work. Thank you!

Re: HP Pavillion DV6045us
recheck your model number, I am unable to find it at hp. Or you can go to hp.com, click on support and drivers, enter your exact model number and you should be able to download a service manual from there.
However, and its a big however, opening laptops are only for the strong at heart. Unless you know exactly what you are doing or could afford another laptop, you can cause more problems because everything is so compacted on the inside.

Re: HP Pavillion DV6120us(correction)
Hi sorry about that. I looked under my laptop and the specific model is dv6120us.
I wont necessarily attempt it if it is really complicated. Its just a pain for it not to work. I guess I can save up the money to have it fixed. Does anyone know a roundabout figure for what it would cost? Thanks for your help. It is greatly appreciated. |

Re: HP Pavillion DV6045us
Look for Maintanence manual.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/m...89575&lang=en& Be aware that playing about with a Laptop is not to be considered lightly. The insides can be very delicate and easily broken. Good luck. |

Re: HP Pavillion DV6045us
Just a thought. On the underside there should be a Factory re-set button. Try inserting an appropriate device to re-set it. I cannot see it's going to be any worse off. Good luck.
