[SOLVED] Laptop on too long

I have heard from a friend that leaving your laptop on for too long can be damaging and reduces the lifespan of the laptop. Is this true?

Too long meaning like just leaving it on for 48 hours straight without turning it off at all.

Thanks

Re: Laptop on too long

All due respect to your friend, but that's a new one on me. As long as the air channels are all clear the Laptop is breathing Ok what difference would it make to leave it on for any length of time.(apart from memory leakage?)

Re: Laptop on too long

the newer laptops dont get near as hot as the older ones so your friend might be working on old information.

At one time. about 5 years ago, I was leaving my laptops on continuously when I was doing seti stuff. I accidentally left a newspaper under it for a couple of days and it did turn brown from heat.

Re: Laptop on too long

I have 4 laptops running 24/7 at my place. None have gone up in glorious flames and all work as well as they are designed to work.
