Laptop wont switch on...

If i press the power button the power lights come on for a second and then immediately the laptop switches of again. What could possibly be causing this and please, please, how can i fix this?
its a Packard Bell. Easy Note...thanks..

I removed the Battery and tried to connect it direct to the AC and the same happens... the fan runs for a few seconds and then switches off... kept holding the on/ off button for about ten seconds for a soft reset... and then switched the laptop on again ... same problem....

dont sound good, exactly which model of pb do you have? might be a bad power supply.

Hi its a pb easynote c3300.... I have put a new battery and checked it out frm the battery and no change it cuts off after few seconds.
