LAptop CD/DVD rom drive issue
ok i have a compaq laptop not sure what model but it was bought last christmas for me and when i first got it DVD's and everything in that drive would work fine and now it seems like i always have to keep the laptop upright to keep the disc working or else it will say there is not disc in the drive. Not only that but i also have issues copying DVD's that i never had trouble copying before it almost seems like the drive doesnt move when i try to put in the blank DVD to copy. Any help would be appciated greatly considering if i bring it to best buy to the geek squad they do something that usally doesnt work or doesnt help because they look at me like they dont know anything i am talking about.

Re: LAptop CD/DVD rom drive issue
"The drive doesn't move"
Ok...I don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds like you mean that the disc isn't spinning. If it isn't, that's a bad sign. I believe that means that the drive is burnt out. If so, it's time for a new drive. You may still be on warranty though, if the rig's only a year old. Call Compaq, or consult documentation. You should be able to find out. "copying DVD's" I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but be careful, piracy, implied or otherwise, is against the TSF rules. Also, if your warranty is toast, give Geek Squad another chance, it couldn't hurt. Best of luck KFJ |
