Dell Inspiron 9300 LCD only works when pinched

I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 LCD only works correctly when pinched in a certain spot. Otherwise the screen is just lit white or lit showing the bottom 1/3 of the picture. The place where you pinch it is NOT where the LCD cable runs through. External monitor works fine. Is there anything I can do besides replace the whole LCD assembly? Thanks
