xp home oem key issues
Hi all,
I have a laptop that had a copy of windows XP home edition oem. So when you boot up the computer it asks you to put in the key from the certificate. Well I had done that and while it was registering the key the computer shut off due to low battery power. So now when I boot up again and enter the key it tells me its an invalid key. I called microsoft to validate the key for me and what they did was give me a new key but even that key it will not accept. IS it possible that the install is messed up now and wont accept any keys? How can i resolve this without reinstalling windows? Thanks! |

Re: xp home oem key issues
It is likely. I think reinstalling would be the best option, if you just reinstalled anyway. It shouldn't be too much of a problem to start over and that is the surest way you won't have any problems later.

Re: xp home oem key issues
If you were only to the point of being asked for your cd-key, you were less than 20 minutes in the install process. Re-start the setup, format the partition, and install again.Do not allow it to repair the installation, make it a fresh install. Why waste more time on hold with Microsoft?
