Toshiba Laptop Won't Boot
I have a Toshiba Satellite A105 that won't boot - goes to a dark screen for a few minutes, quickly flashes a blue screen for half a second, then goes back to the beginning, giving me the option to start in safe mode, etc. No matter what I do, it cycles through the same way.
I pulled the hard drive, put in external USB enclosure and connected to my home PC. All the data appears to be there - from pics, docs, emails, address books, etc. I put back in laptop, and it did the same thing - boot to black screen, blue flash, cycle back, etc. The bios is set to read HDD first. I've read a couple of posts that suggest it could be an OS error that is easily fixed by inserting the XP disk and select "R" for Repair. However, the only disk the laptop came with was a recovery disk, with only 1 option to erase all the data and load the original program files. How do I get an XP disk without going an buying a new one - if that is the problem? Thanks for your help. |
