Unable to boot from hard disk
I am not able to boot my laptop from the hard disk. The boot order is Hard disk-Floppy-Network. It skips the first two and tries to boot from the network. After several tries (I turn off the computer after it attempts the network boot) and finally it works and I could log in.
This is my boot.ini file: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn Any problem here? Regards, RB |

Re: Unable to boot from hard disk
Your boot.ini looks fine. The hard drive may not be spinning up to normal speed fast enough, a problem that is seen with some drives that are about to die. Try changing the order to floppy-hard disk-network, or CDROM-hard disk-network. This inserts a delay before the hard drive is tried. If that always works start looking for a new hard drive.

Re: Unable to boot from hard disk
Mo, it is probably something else if you can login. You can try running hard drive tests using the diagnotic utility found on most hard drive manufacturers websites.
