Laptop is running on the direct supply and not via battery

Hi There,

My laptop was working fine till today. Now its not running via battery but via DIRECTpower supply when I am trying to put it on charger.Battery is not getting charged. I am not even able to see the battery charging icon ON. It seems battery somehow is disconnected and thats why laptop is running on the direct supply when I am trying to charge the battery.

Any prompt help in this will be appreciated.

Regards,

Re: Laptop is running on the direct supply and not via battery

if you boot up and go into the bios setting you may see if the battery is ok or not.

Re: Laptop is running on the direct supply and not via battery

Hi,

I am resurrecting this thread because I am having the same problem, and am wondering if anyone has a resolution for this.

I have check in BIOS, and it states that the battery is fine, but may be ending its useful life (based on age of battery?).

I have tried leaving my laptop off overnight with A/C adapter attached, was not charged at all the next morning.

I have tried removing the battery overnight, then reinstalling it and restarting the computer. Still no dice.

I have tried shutting down computer, unplugging A/C adapter, then restarting computer, then plugging A/C adapter back in.

My battery has been declining, it is about 2 yrs old. It would keep a charge for 20-30 mins. The problem began when I had it off of A/C power, ran it all the way down, attached it to A/C adapter then restored from standby.

Is there a setting of some kind that tells the computer to run on A/C power or charge battery?

TIA for your help

Check your power plug input area. is it loose? I am finding mine is charging then its off and on and off and on..etc..loose connection on power plug.
