problem turning on Inspiron 9100

I've been having this problem for little over a year now and I'm sick of it. I try to turn on my laptop a Dell Inspiron 9100 (I know it sucks), and it turns on and I can see it load, then the screen goes black. I then push ctrl alt del and numerous other combos to try and get the screen to turn back on. More often than not I end up restarting the thing because I hit the button without even knowing it. Is there a way to make this thing stop doing that, and what is the actual problem? Any help would be great.

Does it come up correctly in safe mode?

It does boot in Safe Mode

Would this problem be anyway related to the battery. If so would replacing it fix the problem or is this a different type of problem?
