This computer is experiencing hard freezes but only when running a bittorrent client. It requires a full reboot to recover. Freezes occur while attended and while unattended. Freezes occur after a random amount of bittorrent use. The period varies from minutes to days. Freezes are not dependent on a specific bittorrent client, but occur with each client that has been tried. Clients have been restricted to less then half of the available bandwidth, both up and down. Clients have had simultaneous connections restricted to 45 (default is usually around 600).

I originally had XP Pro on this computer, when the problem began. I tried a new harddrive. I did a fresh install of Vista. I defrag the drive every week. I have the latest drivers for the NIC, and the GPU. The system doesn't overheat before a lockup, but does get very warm to the touch AFTER the lockup. (The typical temps are fairly warm, but are typical for this particular computer) It really feels like hardware, but I can't figure why a hardware issue would only show up when a specific type of program is running. The computer will run quite happily for weeks if a bittorrent client isn't running.

Does anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this?
