PCI bus info
Hi, I would like to replace the wireless card in my laptop (A Dell Precision M70) with a wireless card that has better linux wireless support. I'm currently looking at two wireless cards from intel:
Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (Tri-mode 802.11a/b/g) Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection (Tri-mode 802.11a/b/g) The 3945ABG card needs a mini-PCI express slot, while the 2915ABG needs a mini-PCI Type IIIb slot. How can I tell what type of internal PCI slot I have? I currently have a Dell Wireless 1450 Dual Band WLAN Mini-PCI card, so I imagine the 2915ABG would be compatible, but i'm not sure if it is a Type IIIb slot. I run Windows XP and Linux, so a method to find out the exact specification of the PCI slot under either OS would help me. Thanks for any help. |
