I have a Dell 5150 full load for its day, laptop with a new and formatted hard drive . Unfortunatelly its LCD is dead......I thought that I would just plug in a working external monitor so that I could load XP Pro into it and carry on from there... but I am receiving no signal to the external monitor.

Re: Ressarecting the dead
Erm, not sure how to get around it, but when I plug in an external monitor to my Laptop, it does not show any singal until you activate it under the graphics card/Windows options. But of course you can't get to these without having a working default screen.
Or, like jnoosh says, you graphics card could be shagged. |
