Sound/video problem with Gateway
Hi
I have a Gateway MX6131 that I've had for a while, and overall it's been a good unit. But one thing that's always been a problem with it is playing any kind of videos or music or DVDs. It's always played videos in a stop/start fashion (I guess because it takes so long to buffer or something) and music can be static-ish sounding or drops in and out. I thought "well maybe it's the RAM" so I recently upgraded from 512 to 1 gig, but that apparently didn't do squat. Any advice on how to make my music and video play more smoothly? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Sound/video problem with Gateway
Hi,
Few questions. Does it do this in every player? Are you doing alot of other things at the time? Have you downloaded the latest drivers?

Re: Sound/video problem with Gateway
Thanks for the reply.
I think it happens in every player. Whether I watch a DVD and the DVD program that comes up, or videos in youtube, or the RealPlay or Quicktime or Windows Media. Or music CDs. Or clips found online. But you know, it's not EVERY time. Most of the time, but there are times things actually play ok. What I notice, like when I'm watching a youtube video is the lil red bar, which I guess it the silly thing loading, is slow and when the player bar catches up to it it stops and starts until the red bar fully loads, then plays ok. As for doing a lot of things at the time, no. Usually I just open up my AOL account and play some youtube video or song I find online. But nothing else is running at the time, at least, nothing I'm aware of opening myself. As for drivers, I guess I could see if that works, though since it seems to happen with all the various sound and video media players, I wouldn't think they would all be in need of new drivers, but you never know. I'm not exactly Einstein when it comes to computers. lol |

Re: Sound/video problem with Gateway
Post a screen shot of your processes when it is happening. Could be that your AV or something is updating.
