[SOLVED] Windows Vista Doesn't Finish Logging Off

I have the same problem. It started yesterday evening and been runing for something like 10 hours now.

We can`t change the function of the shut-down button since we can`t get the laptop to log in windows...

I really need to get this working since I just got in Japan 2 days ago and will be here for 1 year...I can`t be without my laptop.

Is the problems is solved for the others?

tap f8 when booting and try

Thanks for the answer.

I tried that but as long as I hold the f8 button, it stays at the Vaio screen and doesn`t load anything. If I only puch it, nothing changes and it still goes to the reloading windows and then the logging off screen so I`m back to the starting point.

Other suggestions please?

you don't hold it you continually tap it as soon as you start booting
run memtest

vista has it's own memory tester but the only way i know of accessing it is from the vista dvd

Ok, thanks. Actually, the problem fixed itself yesterday. I left it on all night and when i woke up, it was back to normal, I still don`t know what happened.

At least it`s ok now. And since vista came preinstalled with my laptop, I don`t have an installation dvd I`ll try the memory tester site you provided to check it out.

check your manual,you may need to burn restore recovery disks for use in a later recovery
