Opinions of MSI laptops

I'm considering buying a laptop manufactured by MSI (Micro-Star International), they're imported to Israel by Ivory Computers exclusively. The salesperson told me that LG brands laptops manufactured by MSI as their own and showed me two laptops from both companies that looked completely identical, except for the logo on top (man, was the MSI one ugly).

I'm a physics student and I'll be using this laptop for schoolwork and some basic gaming. most of the carrying will be from my apartment to my parents house on train rides, though I may bring it to school on occasion.

I couldn't find a review of these laptops anywhere, and from what I've heard they're OK as long as they don't go bad because Ivory tends to screw you over when you bring them in for repairs. The thing is, this computer seems to deliver much more for a lower price. Has anyone ever heard of this company or used their laptops in the past?

Specs:
Model: MSI EX600
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz
15.4" wide screen (doesn't matter to me if it's wide or not)
nVidia GeForce 8400M G 256MG dedicated RAM
2048MB or DDRII ram 667MHz
120GB Fujitsu/Toshiba HDD 5400RPM SATA
Super-Multi DVD (LG?)
Blutooth, wifi, dial-up modem, ethernet, psmsia, usb2.0 and all other standard connections
Comes with one license for Windows Vista Home Premium, which I might not use and install Linux, but it's good to have it just in case.
It also has a number pad on the right side of the keyboard, which is rare and comes in handy when inputing laboratory results in Excel.

One thing MSI are good at is customer service... anything goes wrong then they treat you like the queen.

Re: Opinions of MSI laptops

I haven't used an MSI laptop either, but I LOVE their motherboards.

Re: Opinions of MSI laptops

Although I haven't had too much experience with their laptops, the experience I have had has been very good. Well selected hardware and easily accessible critical components like RAM, hard drive, CPU, wireless, etc.

At this point I would not hesitate to recommend an MSI laptop.
