Hp zv5000 wont stay on
It is my girlfriends sisters old computer, and I can not get it to stay on, It will only turn on, and pring up the HP screen then shut off right away, if I take out that battery, and just run it off of ac power, It occasionally brings up a windows faild to start scren, but the keys wont work to get it to select start in safe mode. when the count down to start normally reaches zero, it just turns off again. Any ideas, or should I just give up on this computer.
secondly, how is this computer compared to a Ibm r51e? Thanks everyone! |

Re: Hp zv5000 wont stay on
Sounds like the cpu is overheating. Either the heatsink is not making good contact or the fan has failed.
Here is the service manual. Should help if you decide to open it up. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00212209.pdf

Re: Hp zv5000 wont stay on
well, after some more messing with it, I got it to start up once, but it shut down shortly there after.
I can get it to turn on, then it brings up a safe mode screen, and the only option that works is start up normally, and after a few seconds of the xp loading screen, it shuts off. anyone have any other ideas? |
