Hey all,
I'm new and am seeking help on this laptop, i bought it about a month ago, and roughly 4 days after i bought it it started having freezing issues. i would turn the laptop on, and it would load the os and about 30 secs sometimes 2 mins, it would just freeze, and not recover, i would have to start it up again maby twice before it would actually work and not freeze. since then it has progressed, a week later it would take about 6 re-starts, the next week about 12, and now in a given hour im lucky to have it working for 30 secs, as mostly it freezes beofre is can even load bios. all drivers are the standard, i have not fiddled with any, ive taken off all the software i installed myself. also i was stupid enough not to create a recov disc when i bought it. one added point, the hard drive light turns off and you hear the hard drive stop turnin, when it freezes, im not sure which is causing which. any and all help would be greatly appreciated, as i would like to know and fix the problem rather then have to take it back without knowing what it is. Thank you very much. |

Re: Acer Extensa 5620G Keeps freezing
Sounds like a problem with the CPU overheating. Not a easy thing to fix.
Just to be sure, try starting in safe mode. Does it lock up? Also see if you sit in the bios, does it lock up. This rules out all software.

Re: Acer Extensa 5620G Keeps freezing
yup, locks up in bios, and wont even load into safemode,
but it seems kind of random, like, i could have it running for hours with no problem at all, but i could start it up after 24 hours of it being off, and it will freeze in the first 10 secs, i also thought heating problem but it seems to be too random...all i can think is a slightly failing HD...any more ideas? |

Re: Acer Extensa 5620G Keeps freezing
It would not lock up in bios if it was a hard drive. You are looking at system board, cpu or memory.
Try this memory test. http://www.memtest86.com/ Let it run overnight if it will.
