Laptop wont power up...
I'm working on a refurb of a Vaio GRV 550 laptop and the issue that when I jack in the Power adapter it doesn't fire up. I've replaced some of the missing parts and am prepared to fix hardware as needed... I think.
The weird things is that when I plug in, the power and battery lcd's slowly light up.. no flash, no battery installed. I hit the power button and get nothing, no fans or hard drive activity yet those lights are still staring at me :P I've also tried holding the power button down a few seconds and the condition stays as is. Is it possible my power supply isn't pumping enough wattage? I have only 1 85 wt supply that I was using on another refurb. |

Re: Laptop wont power up...
You will have to check the power supply requirements that the laptop has. 85W is usually enough but isn't always. Also, check the power supply with a multimeter.

Re: Laptop wont power up...
I don't have a multimeter yet, but I'll be getting one soon, and as for the power requirements, I went on the Vaio support site and they say she needs 110 watts so I guess I should assume the bigger power supply will do the trick... As far as I know, the rest of it is in good shape. I got it gutted out for everything but the screen and the processor, and I already have a potential customer, so i'm gonna have to get my equipment and parts, and I'll post another reply when I've gotten everything
