Dell Insprion 600m

Used the laptop last night and shut it down..tonite went to use it and received a black screen with PBR. with the options of F1 or f2.. Nothing happens when either key is hit. Have shut down the laptop again and now don't even get that message just a black screen after it goes thru the Dell opening screen. Any ideas what is happening or happened?

You said you saw the Dell logo - can you get into the BIOS? If so try resetting them to the defaults.

can't get anywhere tonite. Now I am getting error loading operating system. Nothing happens using F8., can't get into safe mode. Did the diagnostic on the hardware and everything passed. Could it be that XP has become corrupt?

Possibly. Did you try entering the BIOS like I mentioned?
