Acer Aspire 5602WLMI Dvd Problem
Hi im new to this community, im need of help. from wut i know now my dvd/cd rom doesnt work properly it can play cds but cannot play any dvds. It jus runs n runs then stops and doesnt load anything. When i tried burning a cd it cant find a drive to burn it with ...only thing i can use is a image recorder, which abviously isnt the drive i use to record cds. So basically im screwed without this dvd/cd drive. Anyone here can give me advice to fix this. I have winsdows xp media centre edition runnin 1gb of ram n the dvd drive is a dvd super multi layer it supports dvd+r n double layer/Dvd+Rw

Re: Acer Aspire 5602WLMI Dvd Problem
Hi, and welcome to TSF!
![]() The easy way out is to get an external USB drive and use that to read and burn CDs/DVDs. The other thing I can suggest is trying a lens cleaner. But unfortunately most of the time these drives need to be replaced. You can replace a laptop DVD drive but it is a bit more tricky and sometimes you have faceplate compatibility issues.

Re: Acer Aspire 5602WLMI Dvd Problem
Try uninstalling the device in device manager and letting Windows reinstall it.

Re: Acer Aspire 5602WLMI Dvd Problem
Do you have any bootable DVDs you can try booting off? If not, you can make a bootable Linux CD like Kubuntu.
http://www.kubuntu.org/download.php#lts Scroll down to DVDs.

Re: Acer Aspire 5602WLMI Dvd Problem
You boot off it. This will basically determine if the problem is with Windows, your operating system, or with the actual optical drive.

Re: Acer Aspire 5602WLMI Dvd Problem
Remember to change the boot order in your BIOS. You will need a burning program such as Nero to burn the ISO. Make sure you download the DVD and not the CD.
