Laptop conundrum

Alright, I'm thinking of upgrading the RAM to 1.5-2 GB but some people online have said that it would be a waste of money as they claim that this kind of computer is built for basic stuff and wouldn't show any improvement if it had extra RAM.

I pretty much use this laptop for typing documents, spreadsheets, internet, light gaming (emus and thinking of playing Lineage II) and torrenting.

Why exactly would getting more RAM not show an improvement? I thought more RAM would always be a good thing. Is it just how this model was created?

Educate me, please.

Specs say you can max at 2GB. I feel that it can only help. I wouldn't waste money going beond 2GB. I got my memory from Newegg.com, they have good prices.

You might see some noticable improvement, might not. The reason is that your processor and the video cards capablilities come into play as well, which is what those online were probably talking about.
