Acer aspire 5611awlmi laptop won't boot

Hi there would gladly appreciate any help or advise anyone could give me, The laptop is around 9 months old never had any problems with it.... until my son pressed a button whilst the laptop was booting up (Microsoft xp media edition), Now all i get is the acer screen when i turn on the laptop with the timer bar stuck at aroun 3/4 of the way through and the press F2 button to enter bios even if i press F2 it still continues to freeze and can't get no further so in short can't get to operating system nor bios, The hard drive light is whirring away but doing nothing almost as if the pc is paused or something.Thanks jammers21

that is weird. try if you can boot from ur xp cd. since u can't enter the BIOS it might not work unless the boot order is selected to boot from the cd first before the hd. anyways just try it

Thanks for the reply m8 already tried that, it is a strange problem as i mentioned it looks as if it is paused because the timer bar does not move at all it just appears at the 3/4 stage i cannot figure this one out.

Don't know if this helps as i am a novice with laptops, The only way i can get the laptop to boot to the bios is to remove the hard drive, Would that suggest that the problem is a faulty HD. Thanks
