HP Lappy acting a little funny

So my laptop had been acting a bit weird, i was pretty sure that
i had obtained a virus or the system was really bloated ,
i was constantly receiving a netframework corruption error
when trying to download ms updates also if i was on certain user account it would lock up some times so i uninstalled it and re-installed
to no avail also tried repairing windows and nothing there either.
so i figured what the hell and backed my stuff up and decided to just
re-format and see if that fixed her up, however doing the process
in which it was formated the hard drive it would stick on different percentages for quite sometime 18% maybe 30 min and then 20%
a hour and a half then would run consistant until 27% then would hang
again this happens over and over prolly was around a 3 to 4 hour format!!
and thats just to format disk, once i finaly got windows re-installed i
re-booted to boot to OS and it just goes to black screen....
if i let it sit there for a while it finally comes up with a quick error saying im missing something , to quick to tell what.. although after a couple re-boots it went to windows but now since ive re-started machine it just goes to black screen and hangs

I went into recovery console and ran a chkdsk and a chkdsk /r
once i ran the repair utility i tried to format c again from prompt figured i could see if the repair had help anything assuming it was a bad sector
or something but nay! it got to 18% and hung and then 20% etc etc..

Any ideas? new hard drive perhaps?

Take a look at this page. It will help to determine if your hard disk is in danger of failing and if it needs replacement.
