[SOLVED] PCMCIA USB 2.0 Problem

Hi, I just registered here...hoping you can help me.

Well, the problem is that a year ago I think I fried mi USB port on my Dell Isnpiron 5160.
So now I'm using a USB PCMCIA card ....and it worked fine with some devices, like mi cell phone (a Palmone Treo 650), mi digital camera, and also with a LACIE external hard drive.
The problem is that with a SIMPLE OPTICAL MOUSE...it does not work....and also tried a multicard reader/writer...

When I plug the mouse (they worked in other PCs) it sounds like the laptops recognized it...buen the optical light does not turn on!...so the buttons work...but I cannot make the pointer move....

Does anyone have any idea what can be happening???

Sometimes I thinh that maybe it is not providing the eneogh energy to the mouse (in this case).....because all the other devices have their own source of energy......

Please help...!!

Hi, and welcome to TSF!

Did the PCMCIA card come with an AC adapter or does it have a power jack on it? A lot need it.

Yes, it has a Power jack on it, and I found a litle cabel that on one extreme has te power jack connector, but at the other extreme it has male USB connector.....how does it work??

You have to plug it into a USB port on the laptop to give the card +5v of power for devices to work correctly.
