HP not seeing my CD Drive

I have a HP Pavilion ze4600 Laptop running XP, in mycomputer Windows Explorer folder file only shows my " C " drive, does not show the CD Drive, I have tried delete the drive and installing it back, still does not seeing it. I have replace the drive with a new one and still does not see it. I can put a cd in the drive and it spins and the light on the drive comes on but the computer still does not see it. I tried updating my software still not working. Does anyone have any ideas?

See if it is in disk management. Do you have any other drives like network drives that might be blocking it?

How recently did this start happening?

I have had my dv6105us go down twice once losing DVD once losing battery repaired by reflashing BIOS at 2 and 7 mos old. 3 bios updates this year posted at HP
what a PITA!
