Toshiba Tecra M7 - won't turn on
I have a Toshiba Tecra M7 and it won't turn on. I was using Nero last night to encode a DVD, and the base of the computer became warm. Then the screen went blank and the power turned off. Now whenever I turn on the power the power LED turns on and stays solid, but the hard drive LED only blinks for a second and the screen remains blank. I can hear the internal fans and the disc drive powering on, but nothing else happens.
I've left it in this state to see if draining the battery does anything, I've tested with another battery, I've tested with AC only. I've tried holding space down while booting and several others keys (suggested on a usenet forum). I've tried holding the power switch down (I've tried 5 seconds and for 30 seconds). Nothing seems to be working. I really need my laptop for college. If no one can help I'll have no choice but to send it to Toshiba for repair (it was purchased last November and I have a 3 year warrenty - would warrenty cover this?). |

Re: Toshiba Tecra M7 - won't turn on
I would first test it with an external monitor. Plug in the external monitor and then turn on the laptop. See if you get an image.
