Toshiba A100 power

Hi

I have a Toshiba A100 Satellite that I bought 13 months ago. Ive already had a replacement battery sent to me because the first one would only run the laptop for about 30 minutes. The new battery will only run it for about 2 minutes. I haven't worried too much about it since I only use it plugged in at home. Yesterday I could hear a faint, very fast beeping sound coming from the ac/dc box in the middle of the power cord. It was a little warm but no more than usual. I unplugged it and let it cool right off and then plugged it back in. I could still hear the faint beeping and the laptop started and ran as usual. Today it appears to have stopped getting power altogether. It won't start up and the power indicator is flashing amber. The power cord still box still beeps. I'm assuming that the power cord is faulty but I can't find any info in the user manual or in a bunch of online searches and of course now it's too late to call Toshiba. Has anyone else had this happen or does anyone know what's causing it? I hope it's just the cord and not the laptop.

Thanks a bunch,

Kath and Strech

Hi,

I seem to remember that a flashing amber light meant specifically something, but I can't remember. I will check. In the mean time, see if you can find another laptop power supply that has the same voltage output and and the same or greater wattage output.

Re: Toshiba A100 power

The flashing amber light means "The battery power is very low, plug the power cord in to charge battery". I'll try another power cord and see what happens. Thanks!
