Dell Laptop Screen problem
Hi Everyone, hope someone can help me.
I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 thats about 6 years old now. The screen has started to act funny, what look to be static lines are going across the screen. I hooked it up to an external monitor and it's the same thing. Could this be a video card issue, even though it says the hardware is ok. Maybe dust? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Dell Laptop Screen problem
Hi there! Sorry, I'm not an expert on this or anything, but I'm also having laptop screen issues (and have created my own thread) so I thought I'd let you know what I've been told so far. My problem is not the same as yours. I had the static-like lines, but now after they happen my entire screen will go white. This, however does NOT occur when I hook the laptop up to an external source (ie: monitor or TV).
I phoned my local computer repair shop when my problems began and they requested that I hook my laptop up to an external monitor to see if the same issue occurred on the external source. They told me that if it did indeed occur on both screens, that the issue was most likely with my video card. As I said above, it did not, but because you seem to be having troubles on any screen I think that may mean it could indeed be an issue with your video card. Again, I am far from an expert, and I wouldn't advise you to take any repair steps on my word, but since I have had some tech people tell me this, I thought I'd pass on the info. Knowing this, I'd probably suggest phoning your local computer repair dealer and ask their opinion. I imagine they'll be able to give you a little more to go on. ^_^ |

Re: Dell Laptop Screen problem
Thank you very much. I never thought to call a shop, Duh.
When I get the chance I'm going to try and open her up and clean it, if it's still a prob I'll check out getting a new video card. Thanks, hope you get your issue solved too! |
