I'm planning on getting a second screen (widescreen) for my vaio loptap, however it does not support resolutions of 1680 x 1050 which seem to be so popular.
i can't seem to find one with a max resolution that matches what I can put out for under a few hundred bucks. i can output in 1152x864, 1280x 800 (which is what i'd prefer as it matches the max of my attached screen), 1920x1080 and 1920x1200. i can go a little higher but that seems to be well out of my price range anyway and i think i have pretty much the standard 4:3 aspect resolutions as well but again really wanted a widescreen model. i realize i can use a lower resolution setting but i feel like thats paying for resolution i can't use and also wanted consistency between the two screens. (If none of this matters just let me know.) it seems like 1280x800 is only used for laptops and not separate monitors is that true? also i would have to use a vga connection any advice, buying suggestions, insights, or whatever would be appreciated. |

Re: Help with monitor compatibility
Hi Danny, and welcome to TSF!
![]() What model Sony do you have and what graphics card is in it? An updated monitor driver may be able to unlock the resolution you need.
