Alright So I have a dell inspiron computer. It has 640MB of ram a 2.1 Ghz processor, and an Intel(R) 82845G Graphics Controller (Internal).
Whenever I go to boot up the computer at the menu were it loads up windows XP with the sliding bar before it goes to the desktop the screen is only being used in the middle. When I boot up the computer and I am on the desktop and try to boot up a game the game only uses the middle of the screen. so basicaly whenever the computer is in full screen not on the desktop the screen shirks. how do i fix this? do I need a new graphix card? all the drivers are up to date and this must be fixed! PLEASE ask if you have any questions i must solve this!

Re: Dell inpiron... I try to play a game and my screen...
It sounds like you are just running the game below the screen's native resolution and if you increase it, it will take up the entire screen. I think I remember there was an option to stretch the screen if if the graphics output was below the screen's native resolution which will fix the issue. I will check.

Re: Dell inpiron... I try to play a game and my screen...
Go to control panel/device manager and see if there is any red or yellow exclamation marks if there is right click on the device and choose update driver (connect to the internet first).
If no exclamation marks go to control panel/system and then display and see what resolution it is set at.

In the game options, you should be able to set the resolution to the native resolution of the monitor. It will probably be either 1024 x 768 or1280 x 800.

My screen resolution as of right now would be 1024x758. The computer only supports this setting and a 800x600 setting, which again the screen size reduces when I go into this resolution. I have experimented with all resolutions... Thank you for your reply and I look forward to another. |

Re: Dell inpiron... I try to play a game and my screen...
This problem also occurs in the loading screen while booting up the computer with windows XP (screen with the bar that circulates under the symbol of the operating system)
It is shunk there also. But after that when it goes to the desktop id expands to the whole screen. Thank you |

Re: Dell inpiron... I try to play a game and my screen...
It is because XP is using a default VGA driver. What game are you playing? Also, what Dell model are you using?
